4.Who would be the audience for your media product?

This would be my typical, average teenage girl who would be interested in my magazine. As stated before she would be between the age of fourteen to twenty years old. She would be interested in things such as fashion and partake in activities such as shopping, socializing, drinking, and talking and catching up with friends.  She would enjoy vibrant colours.

She would be interested in to my magazine, because of many reasons. Firstly, my magazine would be aimed for that particular age, and in that would know what teenagers want to know and read about. It would also include popular bands and artists that are in the charts that are known to be successful. It would also offer out exclusive interviews with these artists and celebrities and give out free downloads, for example like my front cover states and also things such as posters and free gifts. My magazine will have the latest news and information that would interest people in to reading my magazine, and all of these things my magazine has on offer would entice people to read my magazine 'Crazed'.

This again would be my typical, average teenage boy between the ages of fourteen through to twenty. The boys would be interested in things such as game consoles, television and films, perhaps acting, particularly music and much more. They would enjoy socializing with friends, drinking beer either in the local park or pub! They would be quite rebellious and wild, and more carefree than girls would be. They would be lazier than girls would be, and would rather eat fast food than cook something,  which is important to know, in which I had to keep my magazine interesting to appeal to girls and boys. Boys would like wilder things such as horror films than girls would.

He would be interested in to my magazine for many reasons. He would want to know what is going on in the music industry and what the latest information is, and my magazine would offer this. As my magazine would also be giving out free downloads, gifts and poster specials, this could also interest the boys into my magazine. I've also had to use house colours as a brand identity and used colours such as red and black that are being used to appeal to both male and female, to draw all the teenagers into the magazine. My magazine will also hold information and exclusive interviews that others don't and this should interest many boys in to the magazine.

Here this is a small video, and although it is of bad lighting and quality, here I have videoed a typical teenager, (in a messy room!) being interviewed and asked questions about a teenager's typical life and what interests and hobbies they may have. I picked this person to video, because they are of the age of 15, and would be the idealistic person to read my magazine. So I wanted some knowledge from them personally about what they like and what they do with their lives and how music magazines affect them personally.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

1.In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Features Page:

Each aspect covers and uses conventions of real media products such as music magazines. With my features page, I included a slogan to give the readers a brief description of what my article was about, I included house colours of black and red as a brand identity throughout, an artists profile to give my audience an idea of the article, bylines for images stating the photographer and journalists, to make it seem more reliable. I included a date and a folio to enhance the realism of the features page and used my logo throughout to make it seem recognisable as a magazine company.

Contents Page:

I included conventions such as a message from the editor in order to make the magazine feel more personal to the readers and also to make my coursework appear more realistic. I ran house colour black and red in all my three pages to show a brand identity of my magazine 'Crazed' and included a band index to inform the readers what bands my magazine includes in order to appeal to them. I included a central image to make it look realistic but welcoming. I used headlines and coverlines in sections which breaks everything down and it is easier to situate everything. I also then used a seperate box to show my regular features of my magazine, for example crosswords and wordsearches. I used white as a background in order to make my contents page look cluttered, as cluttered in my opinion appeals to my ideal readers, as it makes it look busy.

Front Cover:

My front cover uses forms and conventions of real media products by including things such as a masthead as a brand identity of the magazine, a central image to entice and interest people, buzzwords to catch peoples attention to the front cover, a dateline- as this is a common convention of music magazines along with a bar code as well,to make it look more realistic and also a lure to bring people in to the magazine. I followed ideas from magazines such as NME or Kerrang to give me some ideas, as those magazines are of a similar target audience as my ideal readers are.

Final Front Cover Coursework

Introduction to Evaluation

Ahead is my evaluation for my AS Media Studies coursework. As stated, the aim was to produce a preliminary task of creating a school magazine front cover and contents page and then for our main task of our coursework to create sections of a music magazine covering a front cover, a contents page and a features page. After we have successfully done this, we were to create an evaluation of our AS coursework, covering seven set questions. Here all my seven questions are laid out ahead. Each question has a different blog post, in order for it to look more organised and appealing to read!
